On my cylindrical grinder, I've attached a permanent mount for an indicator just to the right side of my grinding wheel guard. This mount uses 3/4 inch diameter posts, which are plenty rigid for the task. I swing down my indicator and let it traverse on a flat on the table to get the table parallel. Nothing to it.
