I will say that you crush is your major problem. invest in a monster mill mm3-2.0. Get a farm duty motor and pulleys from Grainger. I did that and say my efficiency jumped from the low 80's from premilled from BSG to the high 80's with my mill set up on most my beers. My mill only runs about 150 RPM.

First, in general, a 12mm coupler probably wouldn't fit on a 1/2" round shaft, but the shaft on the MM3 (assumed, based on my MM2's 1/2" shaft) has 3 flats on it, so a 12mm size may fit. But if it doesn't, as BeardedBrews said, you'll be able to buy a 1/2" bore coupler if necessary.

There are so many Monster Mill options. I want a mill that will last for a least 15,000 lbs. of malt. I do BIAB and they recommend 0.026" for BIAB. I think one of the MM3 options will be able to do this in one pass. It seems like some of the pro series requires you to build your own hopper and base.

You may decide that a slow crush is desirable and a mill that works well at that lower speed would be desirable. I bought a MM3 at the end of 2017; it is, truly, a monster, and when coupled to an electric motor, it's the nuts. I bought it in part because I want it to be the last mill I ever have to buy.

Feb 4, 2014. #19. Consider that the MM2-2.0 comes with a 1/2 inch shaft only, while the MM3 (non-2.0) can be had in either 3/8 or (for an extra $5) 1/2 inch shaft. It only matters if you already have a strong corded drill that happens to have a 3/8 chuck.

I'm about to pull the trigger on a Monster Mill MM3 with 1 1/2" rollers. I am going to motorize it with this 1/2 HP electric motor. I have found this 1 1/2" pulley for the motor side. However, I'm having trouble finding a 1/2" bore 12" to 15" pulley for the mill side. I don't know if my Google-fu is weak today, or what, but I am just striking out.

BIAB, batch sparge, fly sparge? I guarantee you will love conditioning if you fly sparge. If you BIAB or batch sparge, I think you can get away with a 2-roller mill very tight, without conditioning, and still get great extraction and no sticking issues. If you fly sparge, look into conditioning with a 2-roller mill. that is my opinion.

It appears that the non driven roller on top is not spinning with the grain. We've set the gap to the largest possible on the bottom roller and that does nada. Running it with a 1/2 inch 7.8 amp corded drill. Trying to mill in grain for tomorrow's brew day. Have an e-mail in to monster, but not sure how long it will take for their response.

Yes. Feeler gauge set at .048 per instructional video from monster mill. Rollers spin freely. The belt is set exactly to specification. 37" belt / 16 2/16" inches center to center from each shaft. I had to temporarily loosen the motor mount bolts a bit to get the belt on the sheaves. Both sheaves (mill and motor) are 1 1/2" so their in parity.

My bad, 1.33 times more TQ to drive 2" vs 1.5" roller mill. I have a industrial sealed 1/3 hp Baldor with Precision Gear worm drive mounted as a single unit, dang thing only has 29.16 rpm output at 565 in/lbs TQ. I'll have to gear it up, thinking 3/4" L Timing belt to 110 rpm's, this will drop the TQ down to 149.77 in/lbs for the MM3-2.0 mill.
