Agness is located 38 miles east of Gold Beach. The population is approx. 250 and the world famous Rogue River runs right thru the center of town! Agness was once a mining community that has since turned to an outdoorsmans paradise. Agness is noted for it's salmon and steelhead fishing, hiking and camping.

Mailboats delivered mail and supplies to the outpost from the port town of Gold Beach. The town's first postmaster, Amaziah Aubery, named the town for his daughter.
