6. Hexagonal decorative tile. I got a box of these tiles at Home Depot on a great sale. However, the glaze formulation did not take the designs printed off my laser printer very well. Any large dark area disintegrated in the kiln and didn't get incorporated into the glaze. However, I noticed that thin lines were easily integrated into the glaze.

The mason colors and zircopax are refractory, so will not easily mix with or bleed into the glaze, but the glaze is fluxed enough to seal these low areas filled with color. It seems the only way to get contrast on darker clays like Laguna Speckled Buff. P.S. Most under-glazes are listed as food-safe when covered by a food-safe clear glaze.
